Lawsuit FiledFiled in March 2024, this class action alleges that Genesis vehicles suffer from paint and color coat defects that cause the paint to prematurely weaken and peel off. Genesis is Hyundai's luxury brand, and the same underlying paint quality issues appear to affect their vehicles.
Hyundai Quebec â Pearl White Paint Class Action
Lawsuit FiledOriginally filed in May 2023, this Quebec class action addresses paint quality issues on "white" and "pearl white" Hyundai vehicles. The case has gained significant traction with renewed support from owners and complaints from multiple countries as of 2024. This case helped pressure Hyundai into the 10-year warranty extension.
Hyundai USA Paint Defect Investigation
Under InvestigationSeveral law firms are investigating complaints about paint peeling, delamination, and discoloration on Hyundai vehicles, including the Palisade. While Hyundai has extended its paint warranty as of July 2025, owners who paid out-of-pocket for repairs before the extension may still be eligible for reimbursement through legal action.
Kia USA â Paint Defect Class Action
Lawsuit FiledFiled in 2019 and still ongoing as of December 2025, this class action alleges that certain Kia vehicles suffer from defective paint that causes peeling, cracking, and fading. The case covers multiple Kia models and continues to accept new claimants.
Kia California â New Paint Defect Investigation
